BFA+D + Art

With the renovation of Santa Fe’s historic La Fonda on the Plaza hotel well underway, the BFA+D staff, along with a number of local artists and craftsmen, have been engaged in several unique art projects, each of them an integral component to the renovation of the hotel’s 164 guestrooms.  The objective to maintain elements of the original interior design is being fulfilled while also improving each floor to meet current building codes.  From modifying original 1920’s hand-stamped, painted tin light fixtures, hand painting new guestroom signage, and commissioning local artisans to paint custom headboards for each guestroom, the renovation of La Fonda celebrates an artistic tradition that lives within the historic Santa Fe icon.

Each member of the BFA+D team, including Barbara herself, is contributing artistic talent!  We have witnessed our office transform into an art studio, filled with samples of the hotel’s original furnishings and fixtures, new custom furnishings and a slew of art supplies, all generating great inspiration for all of us.  With each restored or new furnishing carefully set in place, La Fonda’s living tradition of showcasing the arts and craftsmanship of local Hispanic and Native American cultures remain an integral part of the hotel’s character.

The renovation of La Fonda on the Plaza will be complete in August 2013, in time for the annual Santa Fe Indian Market.
